Application for Calculation of Cross Section Properties

Section supports the calculation of section properties for:

• Circular Sections
• Rectangular Sections
• Composite Sections - Polygon Method
• Composite Sections - Component Parts Method
• Composite Sections - Rectangle Method

User Interface

Section is an application running under Microsoft Windows operating system. The user can select a language for the user interface and output out of following list:

• Dutch
• English
• French

Identification of a Calculation Project

At the start of a new calculation project a dialog box is being opened for input of some data for the identification of the calculation project. This dialog box contains edit controls for input of: order, project, subproject, item, section ID, calculated by, organization, and date of calculation.

Circular Cross Sections

Input of outside diameter d_o and wall thickness s. Calculation of:

	inside diameter	di
	cross-sectional area	A
	moment of inertia	I
	section modulus	W
	torsional moment of inertia	It
	torsional section modulus	Wt

With a click of the mouse on a command button, the calculted properties are stored in a list which is displayed on the screen. The list can be printed on command.

Rectangular Cross Sections

Input of height h_o, width b, wall thickness s and rounding radius r. Calculation of:

	cross-sectional area	A
	moment of inertia	Ix and Iy
	section modulus	Wx and Wy
	torsional moment of inertia	It
	torsional section modulus	Wt

With a mouse click on a command button, the calculated properties are stored in a list which is displayed on the screen. The list can be printed on command.
